How does the application process work?
It's an intense ten-step process. Really.
Information above the line is your end, below is ours
- 1. Complete the application, which consists of critiques on 2 literary pieces, the front and back cover, general layout, and a short bio.
- 2. Submit this typed critique with an attached cover sheet; we do not want your name anywhere on the piece. We need to keep our critiques unbiased.
- 3. Folio staff meets and a horizontal line is drawn across the whiteboard.
- 4. The application is given a letter and read aloud by a member. Others listen and form opinions.
- 5. Opinions about their critiques, their writing style, personality, and other ideas are vocalized.
- 6. The letter of the app is written on the board accordingly-- average? above? below? super above?
- 7. Rinse and repeat
- 8. We take a look at the board and decide which applications are accepted. The number accepted can vary based on quality and quantity of applicants.
- 9. We learn the identities of the accepted writers. Rejected applicants are never revealed
- 10. Acceptance/Rejection letters are sent to homeroom
